Where do I find my Plugin ID?
If you are on Shopify, your Plugin ID is your store's .myshopify.com domain — for example your-store.myshopify.com. There is nothing to look up.
Use the permanent Shopify domain, not a custom domain like www.yourbrand.com. You can see it in your browser's address bar while you are in the Shopify admin.
Wherever our setup guides ask for a pluginId, that domain is what goes there. Enter it on its own, with no https:// and no trailing slash.
If the Contribe team gave you a Plugin ID that looks like a long string of letters and numbers, that works too — both point at the same plugin. Stores that are not on Shopify use that form.
Are my theme settings saved if I uninstall and reinstall the Contribe Shopify app?
No — settings made in the Shopify theme editor are not preserved.
When an app is uninstalled, Shopify automatically removes all of its app blocks and app embed blocks from your theme, including their settings. This is standard Shopify behavior for all apps and is not controlled by Contribe.
This means that after reinstalling the app:
App embeds will be deactivated again (Shopify deactivates app embeds by default on install). You need to re-activate them in the theme editor under Theme Settings → App embeds and reconfigure any settings.
App blocks will be removed from your pages and sections. You need to re-add them where you want the plugin to appear and reapply any styling or configuration.
What is preserved: Settings configured inside the Contribe app itself (your plugin configuration, projects, and account data) are stored on Contribe's side — not in your theme — so they are not affected by theme changes.
Tip: If you are planning to uninstall and reinstall, take screenshots of your app block and app embed settings first, so they are easy to recreate. You can also contact support and we will help you get set up again quickly.
How do I change the NGOs I donate to through Contribe?
You can change your NGOs directly inside the Contribe app under NGO's. Here you'll see your currently selected projects and a list of available NGOs to choose from.
You can select up to 3 NGOs at a time. To replace one, click Remove on the existing NGO first, then select a new one from the list. You can also filter by SDGs or country to find the right fit.
